UFC 178 Predictions

Preliminary Card

  • John Howard over Brian Ebersole close fight either one can finish. Howard will find an opening in Ebersole’s funky style.
  • Patrick Cote over Stephen Thompson. Cote has a gift that he doesn’t always show. He will tonight and he’ll be dominating. Via KO
  • Jorge Masvidal over James Krause via TKO
  • Dominick Cruz over Takeya Mzugake Will Cruz be healthy? Ring rust? Nervous? Slow start finishes with a submission.

Main Card

  • Cat Zingano over Amanda Nunes. Zingano is coming back from injury and needs a win for a title shot. CZ TKO rd 1
  • Youl Romero over Tim Kennedy. It’s hard for me to pick against Kennedy but Romero’s groundwork is something that Kennedy hasn’t experienced yet. Romero, Olympic silver medalist in freestyle 2000 Sydney is a force on the ground that has learned how to throw punches too. Unanimous decision.
  • Conor McGregor over Dustin Poirier. I think that McGregor has been protected a bit by the UFC. They want a start for across the pond and Mike Bisping is leveled off with little hope of climbing higher. I don’t think that Poirier can expose McGregors attackable striking position. To high, poor balance and short background in mat grappling, so he’ll be punished with strikes as he tries to the the fight down to the canvas. McGregor TKO
  • Eddie Alverez over Donald Cerrone. I think Alverez surprises lot of people with his dominance in this fight. His speed, power and game plan will come together for 30-27 victory that isn’t as close as the scorecards indicate.
  • Demetrious Johnson over Chris Cariaso. Johnson’s motor is too much for Cariaso. Johnson wins all 5 rounds with great technique and style and looks fresh in post fight interview.
