PA’s Tyler Wilps vs. Robert Kokesh @ NWCA All Star Match-Update WIlps is out

Wilps broke his wrist last week. A replacement will be named soon.

Tyler Wilps from Oakdale, Pennsylvania, will be wrestling at the NWCA All Star Classic.

Wilps will be the second wrestler in his family to compete in the event, Matt Wilps, his older brother made a splash in 2012 when he pinned Quentin “Q” Wright. Pitt wrestlers are 3-4 overall in the event. Wilps comes in with a career record of 70-28 and he’s a two-time NCAA qualifier. He was seventh at the 2014 NCAA Division I championships.

In high school Wilps finished his senior year with an 40-2 record and placed fifth at the state championships.

Wilps was a three-sport athlete, excelled at football, tennis and wrestling and comes from a wrestling family, his father Jeff Wilps wrestled at Pitt from 1979-82. He was followed by his oldest son, All American Matt – now it’s middle son Tyler’s turn at the NWCA.
